Alpha-Omega Amusements & Sales is Your One Stop Shop for Everything Related to Amusement Games

Seminars:  BPAA’s Bart Berger and Kelly Bedner put together 15 terrific seminars and here are some of the takeaways that hit home for Frank ‘the Crank’:

Winning Well:  A Manager’s Guide to Getting Results – David Dye:

‘Cultivate to Motivate” – You get minimum results by managing by fear or power control.

Being a ‘user’ or ‘pleaser’ also doesn’t work.  In many cases your top people will leave.

What makes you a rock star manager:  ‘Confidence and humility’.

A Team working together will have 6 times the productivity as each person works from their individual strengths.

Social Media – “Beyond Likes:  How to Use Social Media to Increase Sales” – Justin Emig:

90% of purchases are still retail.

Redemption and Games – ‘How and When Your Games Become an Attraction vs. a Side Item to Your Guests” – Mike Abecassis, Game Time President:

Uses 2 different color debit cards.  One is for regular credit/point play, other is for time play.  Breakdown is 51% of revenues are credit/point play, 45% are time play.  Note that redemption games on time play, players do not receive points.  Result is that video and novelty games receive more play.  Guests get to ‘practice’ playing redemption games and then spend additional money once they feel they have improved their skill.  A very interesting concept.

HR/Productivity – “The Ever-Changing Landscape of the Workplace:  Motivating, Managing & Mentoring Multi-Generations” – Scott Lesnick:

There are now 5 generations in the workplace, some companies have all 5.

Silent Veterans & Traditionalists (born 1922-45)

Baby Boomers (born 1946-64) – 83,000,000

Gen X (born 1965-79) – 60,000,000

Gen Y – also known as Millennials (born 1980-95) – 80,000,000

Gen Z (1996-2010) – Ages 6-20. Have a lot in common with Baby Boomers???

Gen X is ‘sandwiched’ between Boomers and Millennials.  Not a great situation.

Boomers are retiring but many are hanging on and refuse to give up their power.

Gen X and Millennials are leaving jobs at the same rate.  Millennials get bad rap in media.

Millennials like to work standing up rather than sitting at a desk.  Can work sitting on a couch and listening to music.  They love ‘funny’.  Like parents being involved in their life. Like to hear good news first before bad news.

How to Cheat Claw Machines Video

This is actually quite amusing. I also wonder what percentage of the population would believe this to be true.  Our industry needs to market the truth to the general public.

The Eyes of an Eagle

This is a video of an eagle’s flight from the top of the world’s tallest building, the 2,715 foot Burj Khalifa building in Dubai, to his handler below. The eagle was fitted with a camera and released from the top of the building. The eagle had no idea where the tiny speck of land was that his handler was standing on or what it looked like among all of the other islands and buildings and people.

You can see the eagle looking for his trainer, who is invisible to the human eye and the camera, and then once he spots him, he folds his wings and drops like a bullet straight to his trainer. It is amazing how smooth the flight is, with no camera shake…

Someday soon, humans will have eye implants that provide us with ‘the eyes of an eagle’ – Frank ‘the Crank’.

New Parabolic Illuminated Push-Buttons (Alberici)

‘Maybe a way to attract more players to amusement games’ – Frank ‘the Crank’ says.

Alberici is a leading Italian manufacturer of automatic payment systems and accessories.  The company has released two series of Parabolic Illuminated push-buttons called the Halo Parabolic (MY series) and the Spherical Parabolic (MC series).

Key features of these series are a new core and a new plunger, both parabolic. The parabolic structure creates new levels of light reflection and brightness.

Halo Parabolic (MY series) Illuminated push-buttons stand out because of the double luminescent twin contours (Halo effect), which enhance the lines and modern design. The Spherical Parabolic series (MC) stands out due to its spherical shape, spreading even more brightness. These new push-buttons present a large reflective surface, also on side borders.

The MY and MC push-buttons, with an easy and firm snap-in mount, are available in several different shapes. They can host four different sockets, including the zero-degrees miniature socket and the mini electronic one.

Visit the Alberici website to discover more!
