Resorts World Genting will be the first in Malaysia to experience the immersive adventure paragliding attraction ParadropVR in Fall 2019.

As reported by Global Amusements & Play, “Resort World Genting’s 400,000 square foot indoor entertainment space at the Genting Highlands Resort will soon be home to Malaysia’s first-ever ParadropVR installation, adventure entertainment specialist Frontgrid (UK based) has announced.

“Thrill-seekers of all ages will be able to experience paragliding in a safe and fun environment when the immersive adventure attraction launches at Sky VR this autumn. ParadropVR will be installed within Sky VR, a section of the park dedicated to showcasing the most exciting virtual reality games and immersive experiences from around the world.

“Resorts World Genting has cherry-picked five premium VR attractions for the area, which will combine physical rides with cutting-edge virtual reality experiences. Resorts World Genting is the latest global brand revealed to have selected ParadropVR as an anchor attraction as part of its immersive entertainment offering. Other leading operators working with Frontgrid Ltd and ParadropVR include Merlin Entertainments, Emaar Entertainment, King Power and iFLY. Resorts World Genting has said it expects over 7,000 daily visitors at the park once it is fully opened to the public. The ParadropVR installation will be branded SkyGlider VR, in-line with branding at the park.

Frontgrid CEO Matt Wells said: “We’re thrilled to be bringing ParadropVR to Malaysia with Resorts World Genting. To be chosen as one of the world’s top immersive experiences is a real honor and reflects the confidence leading entertainment brands have in our product. With ParadropVR locations either planned or already installed in seven countries worldwide, it’s clear both consumers and operators are looking for premium virtual reality experiences which offer something out of the ordinary.”

Sanjay Nadarajah, Vice President of Theme Park at Resorts World Genting stated: “We are very proud to be bringing Malaysia’s first ParadropVR to Sky VR at the Genting Highlands Resort. It’s an immersive adventure experience that all the family will enjoy. We can’t wait to see the reaction from guests when it launches. Our goal at Sky VR is to offer the latest adrenaline-fueled adventures and cutting-edge immersive experiences. ParadropVR delivers the best of both worlds, combining real-world sensations with a mind-blowing virtual environment.”

What this could mean? ParadropVR is a great VR adaptation of paragliding, an experience just about everyone wants to experience in the real world but may not get the opportunity or is afraid (like me) to actually do. But in a safe VR environment, count me in! Perhaps a trip to Malaysia is in my future. Genting Highlands Resort (400,000 sq. ft.) is expected to have an attendance of 2.5 million. That is a huge attendance, comparable to a major US amusement park. Obviously, the throughput of the 5 VR attractions at Sky VR is only a fraction of the 2.5 million, so many of the visitors will be spectators. This may open the door (create demand) for other VR anchored facilities to open in the region. All good for VR!!!!
