Microsoft announced recently in a Variety story that The Outpost Discovery Tour will launch this summer with a 300,000 square-foot Halo Theme Park U.S. Tour. Betson Enterprises will be supplying the Halo: Fireteam Raven 2 player arcade games ‘giving fans a chance to immerse themselves in the Halo experience.’
As reported in AmusementRC, “The Halo: Fireteam Raven 2-player version takes part in the events of the original Halo: Combat Evolved storyline from an all-new perspective – the ODST soldiers of Fireteam Raven. Use the full arsenal of weapons from across the Halo universe. Enjoy cutting edge 4K graphics on Play Mechanix’ NexaGen™ arcade game engine. A massive 55” screen panoramic display sets the stage as Fireteam Raven transports players into the world of Halo. Halo: Fireteam Raven has been a tremendous success since its official launch last year in family entertainment centers throughout the country.”
According to Variety, “Halo: Outpost Discovery will take over convention centers in five major cities as it tours from coast to coast, delivering an expansive look at the fictional universe of the popular first-person shooter franchise through VR experiences, video games, escape rooms, laser tag, a museum, a life-sized vehicles, a Halo ring, and more.”
As reported by InterGame, “Halo: Outpost Discovery is a weekend-long event with several themed attractions, interactive in-universe encounters and the latest playable game releases over more than 300,000sq.ft. It will begin touring this summer, appearing at five major metropolitan areas across the US in its first year:
- July 5-7 – Orlando
- July 19-21 – Philadelphia
- August 2-4 – Chicago
- August 16-18 – Houston
- August 30-September 1 – Anaheim
“Guests will get the chance to explore The Ring Experience, get up close and personal with a real-life Warthog, battle fellow recruits in a laser tag arena and experience in-universe encounters with the latest simulation and VR technologies”
“Hundreds of game stations will be available to play, along with themed panels, which offer the chance to meet the creators, special guests and learn how the Halo universe is made.”

Frank ‘the Crank’ – I have been closely following the revenue reports of both the Halo 4 Pl for the past 20 weeks and Halo 2 Pl revenue tests in different locations. What I have learned is that Halo is outperforming another great video game named Jurassic Park by approximately than 10% at some of the test locations. With Microsoft assisting with the marketing, my instinct tells me that many FEC locations (and even some street locations) will do well with Halo 2 Pl.
I personally like the 2 Pl better than the 4 Pl because it takes up less space and probably will be priced at 75% of the cost of the 4 Pl. I have no knowledge of this, but this seems to be a common pricing model these days among manufacturers (Examples-Virtual Rabbids, Grand Piano Keys 2 Pl vs 1 Pl). Of course, I can hope and dream, but reality is reality. Another thing I have seen is that players are being attracted to Halo who have not previously ever played Halo before online. More new players to FEC’s means more first time and more repeat customers at FEC’s, something that is great for our industry!!!! Note that if there are 30 million Halo players on-line worldwide, only about 2 million of them are top-level players. Some of the other 28 million players may want to try the new Halo with new features.
Update: Amazing. I just heard through the grapevine that the Halo 2Pl is going to be 50% of the cost of the Halo 4 Pl!!!!!! Thank you Raw Thrills, Betson, Microsoft and any other companies that were a part of that decision…..
