As reported by RePlay, “The most recently unveiled addition to Hologate VR’s third-party game lineup is The Angry Birds Movie 2 – Prank Attack VR, a preview of which can be seen here or at the Gamescom 2019 event [this] week (Aug. 20-24) in Cologne, Germany.
“The game is billed as “a family-friendly pick-up-and-play” experience featuring the characters from the beloved Angry Birds series. Hologate teamed with Sony Pictures Virtual Reality and Rovio Entertainment on the game, which acts as a precursor to the events in The Angry Birds Movie 2, which was released nationwide [on] Aug. 14. The first Angry Birds movie came out in 2016.
“Up to four players can immerse themselves in a first-person VR world where the only thing standing between hordes of bad piggies and Bird Island is you… And your GIANT SLINGSHOT!” the Hologate creators exclaim.

What this could mean? This is good for operators of Hologate VR (Creative Works) and also a potential win for operators of ICE’s Angry Birds redemption games. We will be following our Angry Birds revenues in The Redemption & FEC Report and see if there is a noted revenue spike following the release of The Angry Birds Movie 2. We will also be putting out additional Angry Birds plush and toys in our cranes and as prizes in redemption prize centers.
According to Rovio, the original publisher of Angry Birds, the game has had more than 200 million active monthly players and players are spending over 200 million minutes per day.
