As reported in RePlay, “The multiplayer virtual reality attractions maker VRstudios recently announced its exclusive content released at Dave & Buster’s facilities around the country.
“Men in Black: Galactic Getaway is the fourth wireless VR simulator title now playable at 125 D&B locations. It’s a “zany, action-packed interactive experience” that presses players into service as “accidental MIB agents on a madcap dash to stop a notorious alien gang from making it to their gateway spaceship and escaping.”
“With completely different endings, combined with other elements of variability including subtle differences in gameplay; randomized player characters; seven different randomly assigned weapons; and dialogue that responds real-time to your performance, Men in Black: Galactic Getaway is never the same experience twice. You may even encounter some familiar characters along the way! Players will encounter various environments that are all dynamic, destructible and ripe for maximum havoc-wreaking. Players will get the chance to wield a large variety of iconic and powerful Men in Black weapons, each featuring different cool effects, visuals, and behaviors. Your alien guides will react uniquely, giving each player a brief intro to their randomly assigned weapon. Also featured are enemies that change in scale, a transforming taxi cab, and tons of gags.”
VRstudios and their development partner Strange Reptile also announced new VRcade Arena experiences, including VRcade PowerPlay and Barking Irons Gunslinger, both of which are being offered first for a limited time at the Dave & Buster’s location in Tampa, Fla. It’s the debut location for VRcade PowerPlay. The free-roaming experiences are wireless and VRstudios calls PowerPlay “the only truly athletic eSport in VR, a game in which players compete through a series of matches and move naturally as if they were on a real-world playing field.
VRstudios’ VRcade Attraction Management Platform™ (AMP) now manages and operates 140 individual simulators, each running four unique game titles, in Dave & Buster’s locations across North America.
What this could mean? The buzz continues with Virtual Reality (VR) and Dave & Busters is doing a great job of promoting VR to the general public and with a great product! What more can the rest of us in the OOH leisure entertainment industry want? And you can be sure that many other big boys will copy what D&B is doing and VR will continue to evolve and get better and better. Thank you D&B!
