AMOA’s On Campus Program
October 25 – 28, 2019
The Westin O’Hare, Rosemont, IL
For over four decades, AMOA has conducted its On Campus Program (previously known as AMOA-Notre Dame). Today the program has evolved and is known simply as AMOA On Campus.
On Campus is comprised of four sessions over a two-year period with Fall sessions taking place in conjunction with AMOA’s On the Road, and the Spring sessions being held at the prestigious University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Indiana.
The curriculum is aligned so participants can jump in and begin the two-year program at any semester convenient for them. The Fall program with On the Road extends through Monday morning, October 28 with attendees taking in two additional in-depth sessions. This year’s sessions include:
Sunday, October 27 – 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Andrea Herran, Principal, Focus HR
“The Employment Journey – What You Need to Know”
Andrea will review the many aspects of the employment journey. The beginning: how to find employees along with best practices in hiring and training. Employee expectations such as pay, benefits, communication and work/life balance. Employer expectations and employer/employee engagement. And lastly, when it’s not working and what to know about terminations.
Monday, October 28 – 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Brad Moody, CFI, CFE, Executive Vice President – Operations, Lowers & Associates
“Social Engineering in a Digital World and the Human Capital Risk”
Almost everyone who uses email and other common internet utilities has been exposed to social engineering attacks. Brad will discuss the important human risk factors you need to address in your risk management plan. Your efforts to protect computer systems in your organization against technical intrusion will be pointless if the people who have access to them are vulnerable to social engineering attacks. You will learn the four-staged method most scams follow, why social engineering attacks are so successful, and how to recognize and respond to an attacker’s methods.
In addition, Brad will address the Human Capital Risk when it comes to cash-intensive businesses and employees who handle and have access to that cash.

What this could mean?
Our industry is very fortunate that AMOA puts these important educational programs together. The topics are valuable to all Operators who want to learn how to improve their business and also understand the competitive threats as well as the opportunities out there.
Note that I am very proud to admit that a large majority of my industry knowledge was obtained by my time on the AMOA Board as well as attending the AMOA Notre Dame program.
